Gabby Chu is a South Korean multidisciplinary artist and creator of Yoni Garden, an evolving artistic platform exploring how women reconstruct identity through body, memory and cultural experience.
Her practice moves between participatory art, visual research and material-based studio work. Through Yoni Garden, Chu creates spaces in which participants examine inherited ideas of femininity and translate personal experience into visual forms through conversation, collage, drawing and locally responsive materials.
Alongside her socially engaged practice, Chu works with Korean lacquer (ottchil), ceramics, drawing and mixed media. Her wider practice investigates transformation, embodiment, cultural memory and the relationship between individual experience and social structures.
Her projects and exhibitions have taken place across South Korea, Australia, Taiwan, France, Hong Kong and the United States.
